Prairie Companions / Butterfly Milkweed Painting

I'm Butterfly Milkweed • Spotted Joe-Pye Weed • Gray-Headed Coneflower

Inspired by my love for Iowa's native prairies, Prairie Companions celebrates three wildflowers that often grow side by side, creating a beautiful habitat for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators.

To me, walking through a prairie feels like stepping into a painting God created. The colors, textures, and movement of native wildflowers have long inspired my artwork, and this piece captures a small glimpse of that natural beauty.

Hand-painted in acrylic on reclaimed wood, the natural grain, knots, and imperfections become part of the artwork itself. Each reclaimed panel carries its own history, making every piece truly one of a kind. Soft pink Spotted Joe-Pye Weed mingles with vibrant Butterfly Milkweed and graceful Gray-Headed Coneflowers, creating a composition that feels both wild and peaceful.

Painted on reclaimed wood as a nod to sustainability, this original artwork brings the beauty of the prairie indoors while honoring the landscapes that inspired it.

As part of my Painted Prairie Collection, 10% of every sale is donated to Iowa conservation efforts, helping preserve and protect native prairie habitats for future generations.

The Iowa prairie is one of the most beautiful and overlooked landscapes in the midwest.  Through the Painted prairie Collection, I hope to preserve a small piece of that beauty while honoring the wildflowers and grass that have flourished here for generations
